Having trees on your property is a great way to improve the curb appeal, but they can also be used for other reasons. For example, if you have an outdoor pool, then you can use trees to provide the space with a bit more privacy. The following are a few tips for choosing the right trees for creating a privacy screen around your pool:

Where to plant them – Keep your trees planted at least 10 feet away from the edge of the pool. This will help minimize the amount of leaves that fall into the water as well as prevent the roots from damaging the pool wall.
  • Types of trees to consider – Conifers are a good option since they have deep tap roots that won’t invade pools. Japanese plum yews and deodar cedars are tall and slender, making them great choices as well. Avoid using sycamores, which have aggressive roots that can damage the pool.
  • Noise control – Some trees have thicker foliage than others, making them better suited for blocking out traffic noise. These include sweetbay magnolia trees and callery pear trees.
