Fruit trees are a great addition to any property. Not only do fruits help bring out color in your property, they’re delicious to eat as well! The following are a few tips for keeping your fruit trees easy to harvest:

One of the most important steps to making sure your fruit tree is easy to harvest is keeping it low to the ground. A tall fruit tree makes it difficult to harvest, since you’ll need to get up there on a ladder in order to pluck the fruit – a task that can sometimes be dangerous. So how do you make sure that your fruit tree remains short? Easy – do what they do at orchards – prune the fruit tree before you plant it.

Chop the baby tree down to roughly knee height before you plant it on your property. This will ensure that the fruit tree won’t grow very tall, thereby making it a much easier to harvest the tree’s fruit when it is ready.

When planting fruit trees on your property, make sure to prune them first to keep them easy to harvest. Be sure to contact us at Cartwright Tree Care for additional tree maintenance tips.
