Trees Are Predicting a Harsh Winter

It looks like we’re in store for a pretty harsh winter. How do we know this? Because the trees are telling us this, that’s how! That’s right, you can actually predict the weather by paying attention to what the trees – specifically persimmon trees, have to tell you.

So how exactly can you predict the upcoming winter season through the signs of a persimmon tree? Simple – just pick up the persimmons fruit that falls off of the trees during the fall. Not only are the fruits edible, but you can get a good idea of the weather forecast by looking at their seeds. Cut open a piece of fruit that has fallen from the tree. Take the seed out of its flesh and then cut the seed in half, lengthwise. The shape of the kernel within the seed will help predict the weather. If it’s the shape of a spoon, it means there will be a lot of snow that needs to be shoveled. A fork shape means there will be a lot of ice. A knife shape means the winter will be dry and cold.
