Spring Tree Inspection & What You Want To Look For

Spring is right around the corner, or at least we think it is! Inspecting your trees for winter damage in the early spring will allow you to dodge storm season without any damage and to reap the full benefits of the growing season!

The past winter storms and the current strong winds can cause a ton of damage to your trees and have the potential to become a hazard to your home or pedestrians. Before spring arrives, we suggest scheduling a spring tree inspection to ensure that your trees are in tip-top shape for the growing and storm season.

Sometimes, a little bit of maintenance can go a long way to ensure your trees thrive.

Inspect your trees from the bottom up and look for any signs of damage from the ice and snow. Take notice of any cracks, decay or holes in the trucks of the trees. Also, look of any indication of disease or insect damage. If you find any damage or see something that seems unusual, this is an excellent time to call a professional.

Remove any dead and dying branches that were damaged during the winter storms. Dead branches are not safe left in your tree. Also, you don't want to over-prune your tree; this can be detrimental. If there are dead or dying branches in areas that seen difficult or unmanageable, it is strongly recommended to consider seeking professional help.

Last, feed your trees the nutrients they crave after a long, cold, frozen winter. A slow release fertilizer helps trees defend against pests and diseases. Check out our Spring Fertilization section to learn more
