When it comes to tree care and garden care in general, there tends to be a ton of advice out there. Unfortunately, it’s not difficult to run across advice that isn’t true. The following are a few myths about keeping your trees strong during the fall that you’ll want to avoid:

Don’t use wood chip mulch as it attracts termites – Wood chip mulch isn’t very rich in nutrients. Termites are attracted to nutrients such as phosphate or nitrogen, which means that you don’t need to worry about using wood chip mulch.
  • You need to fertilize your trees during the fall – It’s not necessary to fertilize your trees in the fall unless they obviously look like they need it. If they’re not looking healthy, contact an expert to diagnose the issue.
  • Amend your soil when planting trees – If you have clay soil, you might think that you’ll need to make the soil easier for the tree’s roots to penetrate. But your roots won’t expand if you have nice soil in a small area around it.

Avoid these myths and be sure to contact us at Cartwright Tree Care for information about our tree care services in Kansas City.
