Odds are if you have any trees on your property, then you’ve become attached to their presence – not only do they add beauty to your home, they often provide shade during the summers and block cold wind during the winters. Unfortunately, sometimes your property’s trees can cause a dispute with your neighbors.

There are several reasons why a neighbor can get into a fight with you about your trees. Maybe some of its branches are hanging over their property or the tree is blocking a view. Perhaps the leaves and branches of your tree are falling into their yard, requiring them to clean it up.

However, your neighbors are not allowed to cut down your tree. This is known as arborcide. Cutting down a tree on someone else’s property can lead to a $1,000 fine as well as up to six months in jail. Not to mention that a neighbor would have to trespass on your property in order to cut down your tree in the first place – a crime in its own right.

Know the law about your trees if you’re in a dispute with your neighbor. For tree removal in Kansas City, contact Cartwright Tree Care.
