When adding trees to your landscape, you should keep in mind that there are some trees that you may want to avoid. One of these types of trees is the ornamental pear tree. The ornamental pear tree is a very beautiful tree and can certainly help improve your home’s curb appeal - however, it’s also a very invasive tree.

An invasive tree is a tree that is not native to the location it is being planted in and that has a habit of spreading, which in turn can result in damage to the environment. This means that there is a danger that it can spread into different areas and end up choking out native fauna and flora.

Ornamental pear trees were once self-sterile, which meant that they couldn’t pollinate themselves. However, new genetics and varieties soon became available, leading to cross-pollination, which led to heavily set fruit, in turn causing pear seedlings to pop up everywhere. To ensure that you are not doing damage to the native lands and the native wildlife population, its best that you avoid planting these types of trees.
