Drought has been an ongoing problem for Missouri residents over the past several years, and many residents wonder if 2013 will be better or worse. With so many trees and shrubs already weakened by last year’s dry weather, residents need to be aware of current drought conditions to provide the best care for their trees. NOAA has created a very helpful and frequently-updated website with information about current drought conditions in Missouri and the Kansas City area.

The website not only has colored maps showing which areas are in or near drought conditions, but it also gives the following information:

  • Precipitation levels
  • Water deficit levels
  • Soil moisture conditions
  • River and stream levels
  • Agricultural impact
  • Fire danger levels
  • Future precipitation and temperature outlooks

Much of this information has links to more in-depth data, giving you the information you need to prepare your garden, trees, and crops for another dry year.

If you need help maintaining your trees and shrubs during the drought, contact Cartwright Tree Care at 816-965-6758. We would be happy to put our tree care services to work to keep your trees healthy through the dry season.
