We've mentioned a few times some of the benefits trees have to offer, such as helping keep the air clean, which is part of the reason why forests are rather important features of our environment and is part of the reason why the United Nations General Assembly declared this year as the International Year of Forests.
According to The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), responsible forest management offers many social and economic benefits, as well as environmental services, that help improve the livelihoods of people and habitats for animals and plants. Through the International Year of Forests, organizations such as the FSC will take part in events that “celebrate forests and strengthen their sustainable management and conservation.” One such event is FSC Friday, which is observed on September 30 and is used as a day to promote responsible forest management.
While we usually deal with trees on residential or commercial properties here at Cartwright Tree Care, we can’t ignore the importance of our forests. You can learn more about the International Year of Forests at FSC.org.
