Accidental Ways to Kill Your Kansas City Tree

Accidental Ways to Kill Your Kansas City Tree

Unfortunately, while most of our customers have the best intentions at heart, we often see situations where someone has unknowingly done damage to their tree or trees and have accidentally killed it.  If you have some of the following issues with any of your trees, give Cartwright Tree Care a call and one of our professional and courteous Certified Arborists will be happy to come take a look and give you a full report on the health of your trees.

Ignoring insect and disease control issues -  sometimes you can’t always see when insect and disease control issues are at play with a tree’s health. Some signs are minor.  Whether great or small, when signs of insect and disease arise they need to be treated immediately.  By ignoring them intentionally or accidentally you can cause major health issues and even death to the tree.

Accidentally damaging roots with lawn tools -  Lawn care and maintenance is part of the normal Spring/Summer routine for most property owners. Occasionally though some of us unknowingly do damage to our trees with the tools that we use.  Tools tillers, hoes, shovels all can do damage to a tree’s root system if you are not careful.  Be cautious as to where you in your lawn are using your tools and how close they get to your trees and their roots.

Using harmful pesticides or herbicides on or around the tree -  Some of us may use herbicides and pesticides if we have a community or personal garden on our property.  Or maybe you have invasive crabgrass you are trying to treat.  Whatever you might be using, be sure that it is safe for your trees as well.  You don’t want to kill the crabgrass and your trees, just the crabgrass.

Not pruning or pruning incorrectly – Pruning can be an important part of a tree’s health.  IT can be both helpful and harmful.  If you are going to prune your trees be sure to have a professional Kansas City tree trimming service such as Cartwright Tree Care do the work so that you ensure it is done safely, and with the long term health of the tree in mind.

Use non-porous materials around the base or trunk of the tree – Lastly, the one of other major accidental killers of trees we see and hear about is property owners using a plastic or other wrap that is made from a non-porous or non-breathable material.  This in turn creates a perfect situation for insect and disease control issues.

At Cartwright Tree Care we care about the health of your trees and want to help ensure the best and most beautiful life possible.
