We were fast asleep, dreaming of our beautiful lush Kansas City landscape and the warm summer days to come. When suddenly I shot up in bed awakened by a deafening crack. The type of crack you hear when the skies are opening up for a monstrous storm.
If took a few moments for me to gain my sense and realize it was really a storm approaching. Suddenly, I heard another crack and a loud bang, the storm must be moving closer.
I had scanned the weather on my laptop before bed and did not notice any alarming storms but there I was, staring the beast in the face. Then came another very loud crack, bang, boom. This one was so powerful the whole house shook and out went the power.
I rounded up my family and put them all in my bed in case of an abrupt emergency. It felt like hours had past while we laid there wishing the storm would just pass.
Then out of nowhere I remember the split tree in our front yard we have been putting off for weeks.
Terrible thoughts traveled through my head like “Our cars are under that tree” and “It will fall right through our living room”.
Just when we thought the storm moved on we were proven wrong and it gave us a terrifying blast and with all its power combined took down the split tree in our front yard and it went right through our living room just as I expected.
My biggest fear had come true the tree we neglected to take care of finally fell through our hoe. We knew this was going to happen and we could have prevented it by having a professional remove the dead tree BEFORE the storm hit.
Despite the fear that the storm had embedded on my soul and the disaster it turned our living room into, it sure did bring a beautiful day and a brand-new relationship with a Kansas City tree care service.
