Drought Wrecking Havoc on Trees in Nearby Wichita

Written by cartwrighttreecare on October 23, 2012 . Posted in News and events

Recent climate fluctuations, including drought in south-central Kansas, is having a devastating affect on the tree population in Wichita, according to the Kansas Forest Service. More than 6,000 trees are slated to be cut before year's end. The trees have been negatively impacted by root loss that began in 2008. And record-setting temperature swings and last winter's mild weather have unnerved the city's trees.

The ill-effects of these conditions can be seen for several years after the initial damage, says the forest service. Tree removal can be dangerous, resulting in property damage or personal injury.

For troubled trees on city property, municipalities often arrange proper removal. But if a damaged tree is on private space, the homeowner will want to quickly address the problem with the help of professionals to ensure safety.
