There are few things as disconcerting as when a tree falls right onto your home. Besides the fact that you’re probably terrified beyond belief, what are you supposed to do when you realize what has happened? The following are the steps you should take when a tree falls through your roof:

  • Steps to Take After a Tree Falls Through Your Roof Source: Flickr
Leave – Get out of the house as soon as possible. Your roof may barely be supporting the tree’s weight, which means it could fall through even further. Or your entire roof may collapse.
  • Call for help – Contact emergency services from outside your home using a cell phone or a neighbor’s phone. The fire brigade will come to your home to make it safe.
  • Contact your insurer – As soon as it’s possible, you’ll need to call your insurer. They need to agree to cover the cost of removing the tree and repairing the damages before you have those things done.
  • Secure the home – The first thing you should have done is to make your home waterproof so no further damage can be done inside your home.

Follow these steps and be sure to contact us at Cartwright Tree Care for tree removal in Kansas City today.
