How Your Trees Can Increase Your Home's Energy Efficiency

We may not be landscape architects, but we do know a thing or two about how beneficial trees can be in regards to your landscape. When placed around your property in a strategic manner and maintained properly, trees can enhance the beauty of your home and lawn. But the benefits of trees don’t stop there – trees can in fact help increase your home’s energy efficiency!

We recently came across an article on The Dirt, the official blog of the American Society of Landscape Architects, which explains this concept in greater detail. Smart tree placement, according to the article, can dramatically reduce energy usage inside homes by decreasing the owner’s reliance on their air conditioner and heating units. The article states that “If placed strategically, trees can reduce summertime cooling energy needs by 7-47 percent and wintertime heating needs by 2-8 percent.”

The article presents many other interesting ways that trees can aid in increasing your home’s energy efficiency and also includes a short informative video with helpful graphics that illustrates these ideas.

We here at Cartwright Tree Care would love to help keep your strategically planted trees in great shape! Visit our website to learn how we can help keep you trees looking beautiful!
