National Arbor Day is coming up, and it’s a great time to recognize the importance of trees to our environment. Missouri has celebrated Arbor Day since 1886 and has declared that Arbor Day is a day on which to appreciate our trees and to plant more of them. The following are a few facts about the state’s trees:

Almost 33 percent of Missouri is covered by forests.

  • The state’s forests help to not only provide outdoor recreation for all of its residents, but also provides wildlife habitat, watersheds for rivers and streams, and, of course, natural beauty.

  • Over 33,000 people are employed in jobs that convert trees into essential products.

  • Forests also help to add beauty and shade to rural, suburban and urban areas, not to mention help make those areas healthier as well since trees help to filter the air.

Trees are incredibly important to the state of Missouri. By continuing to plant trees, we are helping to preserve not only our state’s forests, but our way of life as well. This is why we recommend adding trees to your landscape. For more information about adding trees to your landscape, contact us at Cartwright Tree Care today.
