Trees, shrubs and plants are remarkable in that, if given the right conditions, will flourish with or without your help. This is a great benefit if you plant the right species and take care to prune them in the proper manner.

Unfortunately, homeowners often plant invasive types of plants that can quickly take over a residential garden and not allow any other plants to develop to maturity. Here are some plants that the every homeowner should avoid at all costs.

  • Kudzu:Though not technically a tree, this plant will grow on or over almost anything that gets in its way. Be careful where you plant it as you ill definitely get more than you asked for.
  • Callery Pear:So ubiquitous is this plant that many consider it to be indigenous to North America. It is not and will crowd out most other competitors if given half a chance.
  • Russian Olive:Another tree with a small footprint but a large ecological need. Stay away from this most aggressive species.
