Look for Broken Trees After Heavy Snow

Written by cartwrighttreecare on February 28, 2014 . Posted in Tree Maintenance

It certainly has been a long winter, and if you think all the snow has been hard on you, consider that your trees are literally holding the weight of all that snow and ice on their branches. It's no wonder that so many trees are lost to snow damage that causes significant breakage. But, just because your evergreen is broken doesn't mean it's not possible to save.

If you call a tree specialist it might be possible to save an evergreen even if it appears to be significantly damaged. These specialists are able to:

  • Remove jagged edges in a way which will shed water.
  • Pick a new "leader branch" and tie the evergreen so that it will continue to grow in a conical shape.
  • Provide timelines for recovery and other expert advice about helping the trees in your yard after this particularly harsh and inhospitable winter.

Most importantly our experts have the knowledge and experience to do this all safely.

If you have any questions or concerns about your trees don't hesitate to contact Cartwright Tree Care. Our family-run company specializes in Kansas City area tree care and we're always happy to help!
