This time of year is notorious for surprise storms that cause not only downed limbs and branches, but sometimes an entire tree. Not sure what to do with storm damaged trees? Why not make Mother Earth happy and turn that wood into something useful and beautiful? Here's a few things you can do with your downed branches and trees:

Use the bigger diameter trees to create unique furniture. Larger pieces make great coffee tables, while smaller trunks can be covered in colorful cushions for extra seating.
  • Design candle holders, wind chimes, chandeliers, or pendant light fixtures with smaller twigs and branches.
  • Straight limbs can be used as either an interior or exterior handrail.
  • Find two forked branches and turn them into shelf brackets.
  • Create a really cool and distinctive room divider. This is a great idea when you have lots of branches of varying lengths.
  • Instead of spending money on landspacing timbers, use larger limbs to define a garden walkway or flowerbed.
  • Build a garden arbor or quaint rustic fence.
