SAWTOOTH OAK   (Quercus acutissima) is a good shade tree. It is also a good source of food and cover for wildlife. Sawtooth oak is 6626.jpgnative to eastern Asia but was introduced into the eastern United States around 1920.

The Arbor Day Foundation states the leaves add to the visual interest—opening a brilliant yellow to golden yellow color in the spring, turning dark lustrous green in summer and yellow to golden brown in the fall. Its wide-spreading habit also provides great shade. Add in the fact that it grows at a fairly fast rate, and you have a truly valuable landscape tree for almost any yard!

Fun fact: Sawtooth Oak's are used for fencing!
