Today is Earth Day and it is a day dedicated to preserving our environment through acts of environmental service and advocacy. Each year there is a theme assigned to Earth Day and this year’s theme is “A Billion Acts of Green.” Everyone who wants to take part in Earth Day is encouraged to pledge to commit an “act of green” as a way to be involved. We here at Cartwright Tree Care can’t think of a better way to get involved than by planting a tree!
Planting a tree is actually quite a common activity to do on Earth Day. In fact, The Canopy Project is an Earth Day Network initiative that fights deforestation around the world. Last year, the Earth Day Network planted over one million trees in 16 countries as a part of the project as a part of the Avatar Home Tree Initiative. This year, the Earth Day Network plans to plant one million more trees through sponsor-supported tree-planting projects.
Will you plant a tree in honor of Earth Day? Or is there some other way you plan to go green for Earth Day? We would love to know your thoughts, so feel free to leave us a comment with your plans!
