Thanksgiving brings with it excitement of eating all the delicious things we usually deny ourselves through out the year. A literal feast of delicious dishes, as exciting as it seems before Thanksgiving loses some luster the third day after. But instead of tossing out all that great food, try composting it this year.

Composting is a natural process that turns organic material into a nutrition rich substance that is exceptionally healthy for plant soil.

Composting requires a little homework, as it's not as simple as tossing your green beans into a garden. There is a process on how to compost, and it's definitely worth the extra research.

Remember, there are certain materials you cannot compost, such as meats, dairy, oil, bones or fat. These will probably do more harm than good if you try to compost them. But don't be disheartened, the rest of the dishes on your table, after feeding your family, will feed your plants for weeks to come.
