If a Tree Could Make Music, What Would It Compose?

Trees have a naturally beautiful sound. The sound of tree branches swaying and leaves rustling in the wind has a particularly calming and even melodic effect. However, what if a tree was actually played like a record to produce music?

Bartholomaus Traubeck, a German media artist, recently came up with the ingenious idea to invent a record player that plays the music of trees. How exactly does this work? The record player uses sensors instead of a traditional needle. The sensors gather information from the wood, from the texture of the tree rings within the wood to its color. It then takes this information and translates it into piano notes. While you might expect a strange garbled sound to come out, it actually ends up producing a gorgeous and haunting melody, one that could easily be mistaken as a composition by a master pianist. However, should we be that surprised? Why wouldn’t the beauty of a tree translate to beautiful music as well?

If the beauty of trees was at all taken for granted, the fact that it can produce gorgeous music organically should renew appreciation. For more information about trees, be sure to contact us at Cartwright Tree Care today.
