Preventing Damage to Your Trees | Tree Safety in the Summer

Just like any other season, the Midwest faces, the summer poses its own challenges. To be sure you are prepared for the coming season we’ve served up a few tried and true tips to help you prevent possible summer hazards and ensure your tree safety.

From summer storms to plant health, we’ve got you’ve covered. An ounce of prevention and knowledge will carry you safely through the season.

Summer is the time for running in the sprinkler, grilling out on the patio and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Many of us will be spending the weekend outside and likely working on our yard or property so that we can enjoy it that much more. What most of us don’t realize, though, is that a few preventative measures can help reduce that weekend work and let you start enjoying the great outdoors more often.

A few of the biggest concerns for tree safety this season are weakened branches and pest issues.

Weakened branches – Storms are rolling through our area on and off this season and even in a sun shower, we can see high winds.  With weather patterns all over the place here in the Midwest, it is always a good idea to have your property evaluated by a certified arborist.  Our arborists are professional and knowledgeable and know when a tree is at risk for weakened limbs, or even if there are root or stability issues with your trees. By having the knowledge our arborists provide you can be proactive, not reactive. Prevention can go such a long way and if there are any issues at play it is best to know them so that you can correct it early on.

Insect and Pest Issues – Insect and pest issues are a common problem we see in the summer season since weather patterns create a perfect breeding climate for pesky ones. Insects can bore into trees creating hollow branches and even hollow trunks. Not only can these insects and pests be damaging with how they reproduce and live themselves, but they can also carry harmful diseases and fungi. If left untreated these pests can do extensive damage. Having a certified arborist come to evaluate any pest or insect concerns is always smart! Don’t let this get on top of you and make managing and treating the issue more cumbersome.  Take it easy, let our arborists take a peek at the pests and help you out.

Prevention is the name of the game when it comes to tree care and tree safety. Don’t be like most property and homeowners. Be proactive and take the preventative route! You won’t be sorry.
