Though Kansas City is best known for its fountains, we believe that some of the most beautiful and interesting trees are growing right here in our city and as we begin to explore Spring tree care in Kansas City, we want to share a few interesting things you might not know.

When you think of trees that grow in the Midwest, the mighty oak tree is probably one of the first ones that come to mind.  We love oak trees! They stand tall, provide great shade and are some of the strongest trees in the area. They provide food and shelter for local wildlife and they make a beautiful addition to any property. Something you might not know about oak trees is that much like snowflakes, no leaf is created equal. Trees are often easily identified by their leaves and the oak tree has a variety of shapes and sizes that it shows off. They can be large or small, have pointed lobes or round lobes and in general are unique in their shape.

Another tree that comes to mind for something that grows in Kansas City is a hickory tree. Hickory trees are generally divided into two categories: pecan hickories and true hickories. Pecan hickories are the pecan, bitternut and water hickories and the true hickories are shagbark, shellbark, mockernut, pignut and black hickory.  They can be identified by the different shapes of leaves, stalks and fruit that grows from each of them.

At Cartwright Tree Care we believe that each Kansas City tree is unique and has something special to share with us if we are ready and willing to learn. Spring tree care in Kansas City is important to keep these beauties growing strong and tall and providing us with so many environmental benefits!
