There are plenty of options to consider when looking for a type of tree to plant on your property. One popular option is the oak tree; however, there are numerous different oak trees to choose from. The following are a few types of oaks that we recommend:

  • Oak Trees Source: Flickr
Swamp White Oak – This Oak is known as the Swamp White Oak because it does well in wet conditions, but it will thrive in drier areas as well. It also has a unique whitish color on the back of its leaves, hence its name.
  • Shumard Oak – The Shumard Oak looks a lot like the Red Oak or the Pin Oak, but it’s a lot easier to transplant. Shumard Oaks do well in dry areas and can tolerate alkaline soil.
  • Shingle Oak – The Shingle oak got its name due to the fact that it used to be used for the production of shingles. It’s an easy-to-grow tree with a nice look to it – although it doesn’t really look like an oak tree.

These oaks trees will do well in the Kansas City area. If you need tree care services in Kansas City, contact us at Cartwright Tree Care.
