Even the meteorologists can’t keep up with predicting what’s next in the greater Kansas City are but at least they keep trying.   We use various strategies to protect our cars our homes and our sidewalks from impending weather and specifically ice but let’s talk about how ice and freezing can impact your trees.   At [Cartwright Tree Care](https://www.cartwrighttree.com/kansas-city-tree-service), we believe that most tree care starts with preventative maintenance. Making sure you’re keeping an eye on the health of your older trees, prior to winter is essential to protecting them from breakage and freezing damage.   Have old limbs trimmed appropriately in preparation for the colder weather can save you a big headache during the winter months. Ice can be harmful to your trees and bushes and it’s essential that you treat them with extra care during this time. If it’s just snow weighing down the branches, a simple sweeping in an upward motion can free your tree from the extra weight.   However, if ice is involved, you must be patient and wait for the warmer temperatures to take the pressure off.
