They say a fallen leaf is nothing more than a summers wave goodbye.  As we transition from summer to fall most homeowner's still have a yard full of vibrant green trees and with fall approaching quickly we are going to get to watch how lovely it is to let the dead things go, as the leaves fall from the trees with no regrets.

Once all of the leaves have dropped, your trees are in a period of transition and need some extra tender love and care.  Without their leaves it is easy to inspect for any damage from those recent Kansas City storms, dead branches hanging or caught up in there, disease and insect damage.  Here are some ideas to give your trees the extra love they need before their dormant season begins;shutterstock_117671485.jpg

  • Examine The Bark - Check the bark around the base of the trunk.  You know your wild lawnmower sometimes gets a little out of control and has whacked that tree a time or two!  It is important to look for open wounds to prevent the spread of insects and disease.  Check out this blog post that explains more!
  • Give them a drink - Lack of water is one of the most common causes of tree damage.  Water your trees to ensure their health, vigor and safety year round.  Water is life!
  • If your tree shows any signs of disease, insects or has hanging branches. Call a professional like the ones at Cartwright Tree Care to give you a free estimate for fall tree care.  You can save yourself the danger of getting on that ladder and the do-it-yourself tree work!  I know you really want to use that chainsaw!!!
