It’s safe to say that dealing with cold weather and what it does to our trees can be pretty frustrating, but wouldn’t you rather deal with a little snow over falling iguanas? Recent record low temperatures in parts of Southern Florida are literally causing iguanas to freeze in their tracks and free-fall from their treetop perches, according to JustNews.com.

While the iguanas appear to have frozen to death, scientists have reported that the colder temperatures have forced them into a hibernation-like state. As temperatures dipped below 35°F, the nonnative lizards’ bodies began to shut down while their hearts continued to pump blood. Their lifeless bodies clung to tree branches and eventually plummeted to the ground.

Ron Magill of Miami Metrozoo told JustNews.com that while the iguanas may appear dead, their bodies will recover as temperatures rise above 40°F, and he expects that most iguanas will recover.

So, while the snow, ice, and cold weather may be a bother to some of you, aren’t you glad we don’t have to deal with iguanas falling from our trees?
