Are Your Kansas City Trees Summer Stressed?

Written by Blog Dispensary KC on September 18, 2017 . Posted in Tree Maintenance
Is the intense heat beginning to show on your tree? You may notice your tree is turning a bit yellow or pale, and it might be dropping its leaves a little early.

Over time, heat and drought stressed trees become weak and are unable to fight off insects and disease. They become brittle and break easily in our Midwestern storms.

Since cooler nights are upon us, Fall is the ideal time to help your trees de-stress from the summer heat.

Water

Water is important whether the tree is big or small. How much water does your tree need? Since amounts will vary by individual tree, contact a Cartwright Tree Care arbor consultant for more information but ballpark can be up to 10 galls of water per inch of trunk diameter, 2 – 3 times per month

Fall

Fall is also the ideal time to prepare your trees for winter. Trees do a tremendous amount of root growing during fall. This is the perfect time to give them a deep root fertilization feeding using high pressure injections of an organically-based fertilizer. These injections, provided by a  Cartwright Tree Care professional provide a gradual, long-term source of nourishment for your trees. In Spring, you’ll reap full benefits of the fall feeding with lush, robust new growth. More on Fall Fertilization  here.

Trimming

In Kanasas City, trees that are weakened or damaged from drought have become brittle and have caused a lot of damage to our homes and properties after storms. Fall is the ideal time to have the dead, dying, or weak limbs pruned and possibly the removal of trees that pose a risk to your home, or even worse, your family.

If your trees appear to be stressed, nutrient deficient or are dropping leaves, now’s the time to plan for fall tree care in Kansas City. At Cartwright Tree Care, we believe in preventative care. A yearly risk assessment of your trees can offer you peace of mind.
